The Power of One – Newman’s Own Foundation 2023 charity program

What a way to kick off 2023!! The Newman’s Own Foundation supported Heart Kids NZ to get 114 heart kids and teens to a camp at the end of January. One camp was held near Auckland, and for the first time, one was held on the South Island outside Christchurch.

$600,000 USD to charities nominated by six inspirational Australian women. These women have each demonstrated a commitment to empowering others through their career/life achievements and involvement with charitable causes. *

Due to COVID there had been a two-year gap in being able to offer this opportunity so it’s wonderful to see the kids getting back to camp and having some fun after the isolation they may have experienced due to their heart conditions.

The aim of camp is to build confidence, resilience, self-esteem and a sense of belonging through challenging themselves and experiencing achievement. For many, camp is the highlight of the year: a space to be themselves and connect with others who have had similar experiences.

Heart Kids NZ provides free, lifelong care and support for children, teens, adults and families impacted by childhood heart conditions. Thank you, Heart Kids NZ, for creating memories that will last a lifetime.
