2020 – 2023 Getting Kids to Camp

‘Laughter may very well be the best medicine’- Paul Newman

After two years of increased isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Newman’s Own Foundation allocated funding to help charities in Australia and New Zealand get their camp programs back up and running in 2022 and 2023.

One of Paul Newman’s most significant philanthropic legacies was the establishment of the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children fighting cancer and other illnesses more than 30 years ago. Since that time, SeriousFun Children’s Networks camps like Hole in the Wall have helped over a million kids around the world go to camp and escape the challenges and isolation of their medical conditions and, in his words, “raise a little hell.”

A recent, independent study of the SeriousFun Children’s Network camps found that participating in a camp increased the confidence, self-esteem, interest in social activities and a sense of belonging among alumni who participated in the study.”
